Godly Play
Establishing and growing a personal relationship with God through listening, wondering, silence and sharing....

The Godly Play concept is an exciting way for children to experience the wonders of God. This approach is based on the Montessori method of teaching, using a sensory-motor style of storytelling and response time. The key to this approach is to model how to wonder in religious education, so that children can experience religion rather than merely repeat it. Children use work mats to define personal space. Everyone works on the floor, including the teachers. The purpose of this is to give a sense of equality that can be shared working eye-to-eye. Creative materials, such as crayons, clay, beads, sacred stories, parables and figurines are provided to the children after the lesson to allow each child to respond to what he/she experienced that day. Children learn to find the quiet place within, which enables them to get ready to worship “all by themselves.”
